The recently inaugurated Labanagiri Jagannath temple has been the talking point for the local visitors. Because of there hill top views, especially in the morning and evening.
Labanagiri, where history meets with faith. The temple is located at the top of the Labanagiri Hill. The height of this temple is 54 feet. And its distance from Jatani is around 11km. The temple is known as Jagannath Temple or Labanagiri hill temple. This is a local Jagannath temple where Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Maa Subhadra are worshipped. The temple also holds a place dedicated to Mahadev (Labaneshwar), Maa Lakshmi, Maa Vimala, and Shri Hanuman. Each God / Goddess has a space here; it is a small spiritual universe for the devotees.
History of the Temple:
According to the locals and the temple priest, the temple is older than 1000 years old. In books written during Ashoka’s war, the hill is present as a place for King Padmanabh. The hill is a witness to Odisha traditions, courage, and the war. It seems to carry old memories. Laban Giri Hill is an amazing place on the boundary of Bhubaneswar. The spiritual faith of the place grew even stronger after knowing the story of Lord Mahadev. People believe that Mahadev once lived inside the hill itself. In 2002, the Department of Archaeology excavated the Shiva Linga, confirming long-held beliefs. Since then, Lord Mahadev is worshipped here as Patala Phuta Shiva Linga, a form that feels deeply powerful and mysterious, as if the mountain itself is alive. Open Timing of the Temple:
The Labanagiri Jagannath Temple opens every morning from 5 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm. You can visit at any time of the year.
How to reach the temple:
To reach the temple, you can travel by road or train from Bhubaneswar or Jatani.
Distance from Bhubaneswar:
The distance from Bhubaneswar to Labanagiri Hill temple is 19km via personal vehicle or bus. And the distance from Jatani is only 11km.
If you want to travel by train, then the nearest major railway station is Khordha Road Junction, located approximately 10–11 km away. From the station, you can hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi to reach the hill.

The Labanagiri Hill Jagannath Temple is a scenic, historic, and spiritual site situated in the Barapada area of Jamukoli Panchagaon, near Jatni in the Khordha district of Odisha, PIN 752050.
The location offers a natural view with spiritual energy. You can see from the hilltop the Dhauligiri Santi Stupa and the cashew forests surrounding it. Labanagiri Jagannath temple premises work and beautification have still not been completed.
